The Weekend!

What a busy weekend we had! First of all we went to see Santa Friday night. Lacey was soooo excited. She loved seeing Santa. She stood at the side rail and just gazed at Santa waiting her turn in line. She even brought Santa a picture she had made at daycare. When it was finally her turn she ran up to Santa and hugged him with the biggest hug I have ever seen. She hopped up in his lap and told him everything she wanted for Christmas. (I took pictures, I'll add them tomorrow. I haven't taken the time to download them yet.) After seeing Santa we had to ride the Merry-Go-Round, but not with Daddy, but all by ourselves. Lacey is starting to be little Miss Independent and wants to do everything by herself. Next it was on to the escalator! What mall trip wouldn't be complete without a ride on the escalator? By this time it was 9 o'clock and our little girl was hungry for some dinner. So, we went to TGIFridays and I think she ate the most spaghetti she has ever eaten....and enjoyed every bite of it! It was all over her face. Before we even made it out of Dothan on our way to Andalusia she was down for the count! I know that was only a little family outing but it was a wonderful time just to enjoy the little things like spaghetti, the escalator and riding the Merry-Go-Round. We got to Andalusia pretty late but not too late that we couldn't make the Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning with Carolyn. (And I wonder why I gain weight, hummmm?) Once again another one of Lacey's favorite foods....pancakes with lots of syrup! Then my mother and I had to cater a wedding....that's another story another day.
Oh, I have to mention this too....Lance (Uncle Cookie, as Lacey calls him) taught Lacey all the chess pieces and how to line them up on the chess board! Amazing! But instead of calling the pawns, pawns she told me they aren't "lakes" mommy, they are "ponds". Silly me, I should have known better. What do I know about chess?
So, it was a busy but nice weekend with a lot of life's simple pleasures! I hope everyone takes the time to enjoy some of the simple things...next time you're in the mall and things are busy go ride the escalator and think of my sweet darlin!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving day was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I had my husband, my daughter, my dad, MaryLynn, Ian, my mother-in-law (Carolyn), Lance, my brother and his 2 babies all over for dinner. I had prepared all the side dishes the day before so they were ready to pop in the oven...BUT....hadn't cooked the turkey. My dad said, "no problem, we'll pop it in the oven that morning and it will only need 4 hours or so to cook." Well it took about 6 and a half, but let me tell you that was the best turkey I have ever eaten. It was so tender and juicy. It was well worth the wait. I think I starved everyone before the dinner that they inhaled the food on the table. Everyone said it was delicious and I think it was for my first Thanksgiving meal. Even Lance liked it and I thought he only liked meat and french fries. After dinner we all laid around and watched tv and hung out outside with all the children. What a nice ending to a somewhat stressful day. By stressful, I mean just the anticipation. "Is it ready yet?"
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving day with their family and friends!
